Ke Kali Nei Au

As the story goes, my mother got engaged right out of high school. Her mother told her it would not be proper etiquette for a young lady to be engaged for less than six months and thus she may not be married until February of the following year.
She chose Feb 1, 1948.

This is the moment
I' ve waited for.
I can hear my heart singing.
Soon bells will be ringing.

This is the moment
Of sweet Aloha.
I will love you longer than forever.
Promise me that you will leave me never.
Here and now, dear,
All my love I vow dear.

Promise me that you will leave me never.
I will love you longer than forever
.

Now that we are one,
Clouds won't hide the sun.
Blue skies of Hawaii smile
On this, our wedding day.

I do love you
With all my heart.

English lyrics by Al Hoffman and Dick Manning

Hawaiia lyrics - Charles King

A he hali`a kai hiki mai
No ku`u lei onaona
Pulupe i ka ua

As you know, my mother didn't make it to this year. Never the less, it is a date I remember.

Aww, nice picture!

I can't make it down there for awhile. I'm working all week and thru the weekend. If Grandpa wants help I'd be more than happy to come down and do that but he'll have to wait a week or two.

Make sure he doesn't just start tossing things out.

I took that picture right after she had her hair done in Oct 2004.

I'll call him Tues or Wed before wine time (that used to be 5 pm, but I think he has moved that up to after afternoon nap, wine and kipper snacks!)

It is hard with 3 way messages, he gets frustrated. He only has your house number , so I'll tell him, and if he calls, perhaps you could just connect with him. He doesn't do email, so you actually have to talk to him. He has been a grump lately, too. He listens to too much Rush and now Glen Beck. I can't believe he even believes that moron.

Anyhow, I'll tell him that you offered to help. Thanks!
